In my childhood, I distinctly remember that my cousins used to tease me by calling me “why man“.
Even now to this day, I feel that I am curious about knowing the reason for all the stuff that happens around me. I ask myself a lot of times why this why that and get into the rabbit hole to try and find answers.
I once heard Osho or Sadguru saying that we are all humans during our childhood we are very curious about all the stuff and hence we keep asking questions a lot.
Some parents manage to handle this well such that their children when they become adults still have a curious mind.
I feel that I am one of those people who kept up with this curiosity even when I was 31 years old. How I know that I have kept this curiosity is by comparing it with the people who I surround myself with.
If I don’t feel good about something or if I feel that I did a below-average job on something I ask myself and try to dig deeper to understand the core problem and try solving it by understanding its core.
One example is when I came to Germany in 2014 I felt that I gave my parents too much of a financial burden so that I could come to Germany to do my master’s degree. I hated that.
I asked myself how I could avoid this same problem not happening in the future. I realized that I could do it by not depending on anyone.
I took this situation as an opportunity rather than a curse and educated myself with skills that helped me in the long run to face similar or even harder situations.
People say that we can only take bold risks when we are young because when we grow old our responsibilities increase which hinders risk-taking appetite. I am sure that there is a lot of truth to it.
The second element is to understand that even though your responsibilities grow over the period keeping your expenses to the bare minimum will help you to take relatively higher risks than others.
The third element which is very crucial according to me is to have and maintain a curious mind which helps one to stay open-minded, stay educated, be grounded, and work on something valuable to you.
I am glad that I have retained that since my childhood.
