Future with more free time for creative work?
Parts of the text is from my dairy dated 19.02.2021
As technology advances, people get more free time than those from their previous generation.
For example, people from previous generations worked in factories, and working 10-12 hours a day 6-7 days a week was the norm.
But our generation only works for 6-8 hours a day and 5 days a week.
Following this trend which is highly probable in my opinion, the future generation will have more free time at their disposal and less work time.
If we think about every cycle of innovation it has served humanity to advance and get more efficient in every way possible.
The current wave we are currently in will help the majority of humanity to do what we are good at (i.e, creativity and innovation) and all the human toil from cleaning toilets to flying airplanes, from cooking to taking care of households will be taken care of by the robots.
I am optimistic that will happen soon by connecting the two dots.
1st dot is from the clip from Joe Rogan’s podcast with Naval Ravikant (2019) where Naval explains about the possibility of automating every human task if everyone on earth can become a programmer.
2nd dot is from a clip from Jensen Huang’s World Economic Forum (2024) speech where he explains how AI can help everyone to become a technologist (programmer).
By connecting these two dots I feel that in the next 5-10 years everyone can program just with the natural language that they use daily (eg. English).
As soon as this happens Naval’s prediction would come true.
When this happens, humans will have more and more time to do things that they enjoy doing. For example, the traveling, wellness, entertainment, and recreation industry booms like anything.
As Naval mentioned humans would only be working to express their creativity or explore their curiosity not to make their living.
